CLICC The Cluster International Career Centre

The Cluster International Career Centre (CLICC) connects in the Africa Multiple Cluster of Excellence Early Career Researchers across the five Africa Multiple Research Centres (AMRCs) at the University of Bayreuth, the University of Lagos, at the Université Joseph Ki-Zerbo in Ouagadougou, Moi University in Eldoret and Rhodes University in Makhanda. 

CLICC creates opportunities for collaborative training, shared teaching, inter- multi-, and transdisciplinary learning, international mobility and mentorship and professional development – within and beyond academia. The centre is represented by the following researchers:

EC & EO@AMRC Moi UniversityProf Mary Lonyangapuo is an Associate Professor of Linguistics, Moi University. Her research interest is in Syntax, and Multidisciplinary studies, with focus on practical application of linguistic knowledge in mitigating societal challenges. see more...

EC & EO@AMRC Université Joseph Ki-Zerbo: Prof Gabin Korbeogo is a professor of sociology, University Joseph Ki-Zerbo, Burkina Faso. His research focuses on urban and rural livelihoods, specialising in environmental governance, environmental social movements, resources conflict, gender analyses and mixed methods.

EC & EO@AMRC University of Lagos: Dr Feyisayo Fehintola Ademola-Adeoye is a Senior Research Fellow at the Institute of African and Diaspora Studies, University of Lagos, Nigeria, with a PhD in Linguistics with expertise spanning Syntax, Phonetics, Phonology, Digital Humanities, Cultural and Anthropological Linguistics, and Gender Studies. see more...

Through joint seminars, masterclasses and summer schools, writing retreats, digital literacy courses, methodological and further measures to enhance careers, CLICC coordinates competence training, called the Cluster’s APPS defined by academic, professional, personal and specified skills

CLICC furthermore fosters early career researcher’s networks beyond Africa-Europe in particular by funding support of the summer school of Fábrica of the Centro de Estudos Afro-Orientais (CEAO) of the Federal University of Bahia, Brazil, and researcher’s partnerships across institutional and disciplinary boundaries.  

Grounded in mutual learning, ethical and engaged scholarship and transdisciplinary collaboration, CLICC functions as a hub for emerging scholars developing their research, careers and leadership potential who are members of the monthly meetings and consensual decisions.

Dr Christine Scherer, AMRC University of Bayreuth, brings together higher education research and practice, international academic collaboration, and researcher development. Her work has examined doctoral training, higher education partnerships between Africa and Europe, and the conditions for collaborative and relational knowledge production in transdisciplinary spaces also beyond the classroom.
