This lecture by Prof. Souleymane Bachir Diagne - Director of the Institute of African Studies at Columbia University - is a reflection on a politics of humanity as a global response to the intertwined plagues of covid 19, racism and the destruction of the environment. African humanisms embodied in the concepts of ubuntu (South Africa) and nite (Senegal) are examined as examples of such a politics.
