Round Table of Research Data Management (RDM): "Interdisciplinary Perspectives on Fluid Ontologies" - Fifth Session: "Discussing Fluidity"

2022-08-02 09:00 - 10:00
Hybrid event

Objective

Fluid ontologies are the Cluster's approach to bring together various perspectives, traditions, and epistemologies when it comes to managing its research data. But how should fluidity emerge? We are looking forward to discuss this with you collecting and interchanging ideas from various disciplines.

This will be the first session of the series Round Table of Research Data Management (RDM) in the Cluster Africa Multiple - the place to share theoretical insights about, scientific takes on, and practical implications of RDM.

Call for participation

We want to discuss with you what fluid ontologies can be and how fluid links could possibly emerge. This is not to talk about algorithms and the deep technical details. We are interested in your perspective on the topic.

To set ground for profound discussions, we will have sessions with spotlight talks outlining important aspects of the digital activities at UBT and ACC Rhodes and the research therein.

Roundtable of RDM

We will meet on a regular basis during the upcoming months:

  • 21 June 2022: Introducing Ontologies
  • 5 July 2022: The MODS Ontology
  • 19 July 2022: Fluiditity and Context
  • 26 July 2022: Fluid Links in WissKI
  • 2 August 2022: Discussing Fluidity
  • To be continued

We will meet hybrid from 9-10am (GMT+2, Bayreuth time).

Publication

The round table will be accompanied by online proceedings offering abstracts, recordings of talks, and supplemental material.

To keep track of discussion outcomes and to outline our lines of thoughts, we publish summaries of the sessions in the form of blog posts.

Participate and contribute

Please drop us a quick email (to mirco.schoenfeld@uni-bayreuth.de) if you wish to parcitipate by 19. June 2022. If you want to contribute to a meeting, please indicate this in your mail.
