Join us for a conversation with economic geographer and urban scholar Andrea Pollio from the University of Turin. Pollio will discuss his new book, Silicon Elsewhere (2026), an insightful examination of Nairobi, Kenya's "Silicon Savannah," where venture capitalists, data scientists, entrepreneurs, and state bureaucrats mingle with networks of Chinese startups and investment to shape Nairobi's technological future.
Drawing on urban studies, geography, and African studies, Silicon Elsewhere is a compelling analysis of technological innovation in an urban East African city. The talk will be followed by a discussion and an audience Q&A. All are welcome.
