Frédérick Madore
Biography
With a background in history and expertise on Islam in Francophone West Africa, Dr. Frédérick Madore bridges the gap between technical infrastructure and African Studies research. He supports researchers in managing data according to FAIR and CARE principles.
His areas of expertise include:
- Digital repository design: Building and maintaining Omeka S databases with controlled vocabularies and metadata schemas
- AI-assisted data processing: Extracting text from scanned documents and handwriting, identifying named entities, summarizing large corpora, transcribing audio/video
- Data visualisation: Interactive dashboards, textual analysis, mapping
These skills are demonstrated through the Islam West Africa Collection (IWAC), an open-access Omeka S database of over 14,500 items he developed.
