Profile Description

Neeraj Thandayan Viswajith has served as a Data Curator at the Africa Multiple Cluster of Excellence since May 2023. In this role, he focuses on the development and maintenance of the Digital Research Environment system (currently WissKI UBT) and other auxiliary services. His primary responsibilities involve managing research data curation and providing technical consultations to support collaborative knowledge sharing. He is also involved in process automation and the creation of data pipelines, utilising various database technologies to streamline research workflows.

His professional background is rooted in a multidisciplinary education, holding an MSc in Social Data Science from the University of Essex, an MA in Applied Sociology from Christ University, and a BA in Liberal Arts from the Symbiosis School for Liberal Arts. Before his current role, Neeraj gained experience in market research and business intelligence in the UK, where he focused on data collection and reporting for the mineral and waste industries. He has also contributed to research and development for higher education advisory tools, focusing on database design and algorithm development.

Neeraj’s research interests center on the intersection of digital technology and social behavior, particularly regarding how data reveals patterns in political and social discourse. His recent work includes the study of political echo chambers and populist campaign strategies on social media. His current research focus includes ontology and knowledge graph linkage, alongside exploring various techniques for metadata enrichment.
